A few helping hands ...

The week before my visit I wasn't well and was working from home when a friend of mine sent me a link to the community on ORKUT. I was curious and joined the community. My curiosity didn't stop at that, and I decided to visit the place and check-out myself. I made my first visit to CHILD HOME on Saturday 27th October 2007.

I was driving down to the HOME when a lot of questions crossed my mind. The moment I stepped in the HOME, I had such a warm reception by these 9 kids. When I looked at all the kids there and the love and affection they have for each other, in a slipt moment I realized (once again) that life had a greater meaning, a much greater meaning. I had been to the home on two other occasions, on Diwali and on New Year Day. The warmth, the love just kept increasing. I am not sure if I was able to touch their lives, but for sure, each and every kid at the HOME has touched my life.

I learnt more about how the CHILD HOME was established and more about Mr. Senthil who founded this HOME. It takes a lot of conviction, courage, dedication and above all PASSION to support such children. I sincerely appreciate the efforts of Mr. Senthil.

There are great humans who dedicate their lives for such noble causes. The least we can do is to invest a couple of hours in a month by visiting the HOME. Your visit to the HOME will make a difference. Lets all come together for this noble cause.

Nostalgia

The year 2007 was a very good one for the CHILD home. It had so many good things for them than bad things.

This is a place for kids as normal as anybody but parents with HIV+. The problem is that they lose their job after identifying the RH factor, later they even get sick and lose their life. The relatives are no good to take up the kids, and they will in roadside sooner than later.
This CHILD home identify such kids and give them proper food, clothing and most importantly education. This is basically a primary education from govt schools. Other activities like karate, yoga are also taught.

Feb 25th 2007 - the first anniversary of CHILD held in LEO Matirculation School, Thirumangalam, Chennai. Hardly 40 people turned out, we expected a huge number though. Most of them were personal friends of Senthil - the trustee of CHILD. So the volunteers and donors count were actually in single digit.

Mr. Senthil - the trustee and the founder of the home:
MSW graduate is the perfect eligibility one can have for this kind of activity. He is working in Kilpauk Medical College as a counselor for HIV+ patients. Lot of patients came and got counseled. Later something urged him in his inner soul to help them. How and what was not clear though. Then he wanted to start an NGO for the kids who will be isolated from such people. To start an NGO there has to be at least 2 trustees, and he approached Mr. Murugesan (his senior in college) who readily agreed to give his arm for the cause. Immediately 2 kids of age 3 got into the CHILD home. Akash and Akshaya, the beautiful twins. Later 7 more kids got registered in CHILD home.

There was a situation when CHILD home had to pay a penalty for not maintaining a minimum balance in the savings account. But now they are in a better shape all due to many peoples helping heart.

I visited the CHILD home a month before their 1st anniversary, then the visitor count was 26 I believe. When I was there 2 days back, the count was close to 300. It is now 10 times the previous year and thats how CHILD is in a good shape.

Hope this year will be fantastic and fabulous for CHILD.
